Your right to report and speak out against law enforcement misconduct is protected under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Cop Reporter is a platform for free expression and public accountability. We do not censor legitimate complaints, but we reserve the right to remove content that violates our terms (like spam, threats, or illegal material). By submitting a complaint, you agree that your submissions are truthful exercises of your free speech rights. We support transparency. Retaliation against whistleblowers is illegal, and will be taken seriously. Report any such attempts to us or trusted authorities.
Cop Reporter prioritizes your anonymity and security. When you "Report a Cop", we optionally collect your name, email, and phone number if you choose to provide them (for things like updates, verification, or to be contacted by an attorney or the press). This information is never displayed in the public database and never shared with any government agency, law enforcement, or third party without a court order signed by a judge. All public complaint details are accessible solely through the database. We will not be coerced, threatened, or bribed into releasing complainant information under any circumstances. Attempts to intimidate us, whether from agencies, attorneys, or private entities, will be documented, reported to the FBI, and resisted with every legal tool at our disposal.
All complaints in the Cop Reporter database are user-submitted and not independently verified by us. We're a public repository, not an investigative body. Users should cross-check information with official sources before relying on it for legal or personal decisions. If you spot inaccuracies, let us know—we'll review and may add notes or corrections. Submitting false or defamatory info could expose you to legal risks and repercussions. We recommend filing an official agency complaint in addition to your report on Cop Reporter and uploading the agency complaint to Cop Reporter.
By submitting a report, you confirm you're at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your state) and that your report(s) are based on real experiences or evidence. Don't submit spam, harassment, lies, or anything illegal. If you do, we'll remove it and may ban repeat offenders. Cop Reporter isn't a substitute for official channels; we encourage filing with agencies too. If you're adding an official complaint to your report, ensure it is legitimate to avoid any fraud claims filed by 3rd parties.
Cop Reporter, its operators, and associates, aren't liable for any damages from using this site or its data. We're not lawyers, and nothing here is legal advice. Consult a professional for that. Our aim to highlight patterns of abuse put a spotlight on corrupt, abusive cops, and hopefully, through these initiatives, have them removed from law enforcement altogether. Outcomes (like investigations) depend on authorities, not us.
